The Boss OD-1 was the first overdrive pedal from Boss and uses a quad op-amp circuit to produce warm, tube-like distortion. It has two controls: Drive for adjusting the amount of overdrive and Level for setting the output volume. The circuit is known for its smooth clipping and dynamic response that cleans up when you roll back guitar volume.Early versions like this black label model were made in Japan and require a 12V ACA power supply (not included) or 9V battery.
