Hand signed and numbered by designer, and legendary amp engineer James Brown (Peavey 5150, JSX), the Tight Metal was one of the flagship pedals from his boutique brand Amptweaker, launched in the early 2010s. Built for aggressive, articulate high-gain tones, it features a unique Tight control to shape low-end response, a built-in noise gate, and a rugged all-analog circuit.
The Amptweaker Tight Metal is a high-gain distortion pedal aimed at rock and metal players, pulling from the circuitry of the Tight Metal Pro II but in a more compact form. It delivers brutal, tight distortion with controls for gain, tone, and volume, plus switches for EQ shaping and a fat/tight mode to adjust the attack and thickness of the distortion. The built-in noise gate helps keep things clean during palm mutes or high-gain riffing, and it responds well to your playing dynamics.
You can run it at 9V for more compression or 18V for extra headroom, and it's all analog for natural feel without digital lag. The EQ switch offers options like smooth for warmer highs or thrash for a scooped midrange, making it versatile for different amp setups. It's true bypass, so it won't color your clean tone when off.
